About the Hospital

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, the hospital centered on your care, opened September 1, 2004. LWRMC offers patient-focused medicine and is equipped with advanced technology.

Located just two miles from I-75 and bridging Manatee and Sarasota counties, this new, 120-bed acute care hospital has an extensive system of fully-integrated inpatient and outpatient services that share a single purpose—to provide compassionate, quality patient care.

Patients have access to a medical staff of over 400 physicians and allied health professionals with a comprehensive range of specialties who use technological advances in medicine.

UHS, Inc. is one of the nation's largest hospital management companies, operating acute care, behavioral health facilities and ambulatory centers nationwide.

As a new hospital, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is certified as an Acute Care Hospital Medicare Provider, is licensed by the State of Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration and has received accreditation by The Joint Commission.

Medical Staff and Nursing Care

Medical Staff
An outstanding group of physicians from Manatee and Sarasota counties practice at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. All 305 physicians are board certified, having been credentialed through a rigorous process to meet the needs of families in our community. The hospital's medical staff represents more than 40 specialties and are complemented by over 50 allied healthcare professionals. Physician offices are located in Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota and Bradenton.

Nursing Staff
Quality nursing care is a critical component of a patient's hospital experience and a priority for Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. The medical center began recruiting nursing staff in 2003, to attract highly-skilled nurses both locally and internationally. We're very proud of the nursing staff's diversity which complements the diversity of the families and communities we serve. The Lakewood Ranch Medical Center nursing staff have been extensively educated in their respective disciplines and staff composition reflects an average of 10-plus years of experience.

Medical Staff Officers

The officers of the medical staff are the medical governing body responsible for all clinical services delivered by the hospital. They are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of healthcare in the community.

The LWRMC clinical department heads and committee chairs of the medical board work with the officers of the medical staff to develop, implement and manage activities that contribute to the quality and efficiency of patient care provided in each department.
