Education and support for expectant families before, during and after the birth experience.




Preview Night

An informational opportunity for families to tour The Women's Center birthing area, meet the staff, register for classes and make arrangements with business office representatives. A representative will speak about the benefits of cord blood banking.

Prepared Childbirth Series

A comprehensive program designed to prepare a couple physically and mentally for birth. This is an experience not to be missed and completely different from what is available on the Internet or TV! Topics include pregnancy discomforts, preparing for physical changes, labor and delivery, hospital policies and procedures. Couples will also learn about pain management techniques and anesthesia pain relief.

Fee: $70 for series (weeknights).Registration required.

Prepared Childbirth Weekend Crash Course

Fee: $70 – Registration required.
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Baby Care Basics

This class is designed to help parents get a head start on caring for their baby. Topics include general infant care such as bathing and diapering, newborn appearance and characteristics and a review of standard newborn tests and procedures. 

Fee: $15 for class – Registration required.
Time: 9:00 a.m. – noon

Breastfeeding Classes

Learn the most up-to-date information about what to expect when breastfeeding your newborn. Topics include getting started, nursing discreetly and ways to manage nursing while working.

$15 for class – Registration required.

Infant CPR

Get hands-on practice in the proper techniques of infant CPR based on the latest recommendations of the American Heart Association. This is a very popular class for parents, grandparents, siblings and babysitters. Please sign up early as classes fill rapidly!

Fee: $10 per person – Registration required.

Xtra TLC

This class provides the opportunity to learn and practice additional techniques and ideas for coping with the pain and stress of labor. The class was created to help women and their partners gain more confidence in their involvement in the labor and birth process, whether it be a medicated, minimally medicated or nonmedicated experience.

Fee: Included in Prepared Childbirth Class, or $15 if not enrolled in Prepared Childbirth – Registration required.

Prenatal Yoga

Classes are taught by an experienced, certified prenatal yoga instructor. Yoga is very well suited for pregnancy on several levels. In addition to building strength and endurance, expectant women learn relaxation, proper breathing, wellness and body awareness, all of which are not only extremely beneficial during pregnancy, but also during labor and delivery.

Little Nippers

Join us for a weekly informal gathering for moms/parents and their newborns. Our facilitator and other moms are available to offer support and suggestions for each other. An optional light lunch, provided by Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, is available for a small fee. No need for a reservation, just come by!

Fee: Support group is free, lunch is $3.50 (optional) Registration required.
Time: 11:30 a.m. –1:00 p.m.
