Jim Wilson Named CEO of LWRMC

Jim Wilson, CEO Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is proud to announce that Jim Wilson has been named the new CEO. Jim has served as CEO at Central Montgomery Medical Center since 2007. In that time he has made considerable progress in improving operations at the facility. Jim started his career almost 25 years ago as an EMT, later serving as an auditor for both the Office of Inspector General and Medicare. He worked his way through various leadership roles in the financial divisions of multiple hospitals as well as the corporate offices of both HCA and CHS. He later was named interim CEO at Pottstown Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania before accepting the CEO position at Central Montgomery in early 2007. During his tenure at Central Montgomery, Jim has improved patient safety, physician satisfaction, and employee satisfaction while serving the local area in numerous charitable and community organizations.

Jim obtained his BS in accounting from Creighton University in Nebraska, and his MHA from Regis University in Colorado. Jim will officially start as CEO on Monday, October 6th. Jim and his wife Moira will be relocating to Lakewood Ranch in the coming months.

Many thanks to Linda Widra, Lakewood Ranch COO, who has been serving as interim CEO during the search process. During her tenure in this role, the hospital has continued to show positive momentum in overall operations as well as continuing improvement in patient, employee and physician satisfaction.

LWRMC Offers New Cardiovascular Services to Improve Patient Care

Cardio ServicesOne in five Americans suffers
from one or more forms of cardiovascular disease. To help its physicians provide faster and more accurate cardiovascular care to Bradenton/Sarasota area residents, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is utilizing new, advanced medical technology that enables physicians to capture and view detailed 3D images through the use of an innovative angiographic X-ray lab.

This fully digital multi-functional system can aid in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of patient conditions and can be used for procedures such as:

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Debuts New Treatment Option for Spinal Stenosis

Spinal Stenosis

Thomas M. Sweeney, M.D., a physician at Southeastern Spine Center, was the first surgeon in Florida to perform this minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). He performed this surgery at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. LSS, a common spinal problem suffered mainly by the middle-aged and elderly population, is often associated with debilitating pain in the back and legs. Until recently, LSS patients had limited options for relieving the symptoms associated with the disease.
