As We Team up to Overcome COVID-19, We’re All in It Together
July 20, 2020
Lakewood Ranch Medical Center has been the recipient of an enormous outpouring of community support since the COVID-19 outbreak started — everything from donations of supplies to messages of encouragement to countless food deliveries, which have nourished the hospital staff body and soul. Thank you to everyone who has contributed for your amazing kindness and generosity.
As a reminder of the community’s support, the staff hung artwork and cards they’ve received in a waiting room that they named the Inspiration Room. “It provides our staff with uplifting messages when they are feeling low,” says Sarah Hodges, BSN, RN, CCRN, Clinical Leader of Critical Care Services. “The outpouring of support from the community has been incredible. It has filled our hearts when we needed it most!”
Although this has been an extremely difficult time for essential workers and people everywhere, employees throughout the hospital have come together in unprecedented ways to respond to COVID-19 and take care of patients’ critical health needs. Shannon Zies, RN BSN, Director of Medical/Telemetry, explains how her unit and the Orthopedic unit merged due to COVID-19, giving the two units an opportunity to work collectively together. To remember these times, every member of their team received a T-shirt signifying that ALL employees are essential, says Zies. “What they do every day impacts so many lives,” she says. “I am so incredibly proud of their hard work ethic, teamwork and dedication to all they serve.”
