Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Recognized With National Award for Clinical Excellence

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center (LWRMC) physicians, leaders and clinicians celebrated the Center of Distinction award, which was presented to the LWRMC Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine for 2019.

The LWRMC Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine is a member of the Healogics® network of Wound Care Centers®. Healogics is the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92 percent within 28 median days. There were 601 centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award and only about 60 percent achieved the honor.

“The LWRMC Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine provides outstanding specialized care for patients in Lakewood Ranch and our surrounding communities,” says Andy Guz, CEO, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. “We are honored to receive this recognition for the second straight year and celebrate the center’s impressive patient outcomes.”

The LWRMC Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine is a member of the Healogics network of over 600 Wound Care Centers that provide access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. The LWRMC Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Leading edge treatments at the center include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.

“Patient satisfaction is the primary metric that everyone here lives by every single day and our patients know this and appreciate our efforts,” explained Elizabeth McLure, Program Director at LWRMC Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine. “Our center is professional and sensitive to both our patients and their doctors.”
