First COVID-19 Vaccine for Frontline Healthcare Workers Administered at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center (LWRMC) has received the first shipment of the Emergency Use Authorization Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and on December 23, 2020, Vanessa Spingola, Emergency Department Clinical Leader, was the first frontline healthcare worker to receive the immunization.
LWRMC received an initial allotment of the Moderna vaccine for the hospital’s frontline healthcare workers, who began signing up for their immunizations when news arrived last week from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis that mentioned LWRMC would be receiving the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
Additional vaccine shipments for the hospital are anticipated in the coming weeks.
