On Thursday, October 22, 2020, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center’s Chief of Surgery Dr. Robert Browning was recognized by Intuitive Surgical for completing his 500th robotic surgery case utilizing the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System.

Dr. Browning utilizes robotic technology for general and colorectal surgeries. Potential benefits of minimally invasive robotic surgery compared to open surgery may include a shorter hospital stay, less post-operative pain, a quicker recovery, less risk of infection and less scarring.

Andy Guz, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center CEO, stated, “Serving as Lakewood Ranch Medical Center’s Chief of Surgery, Dr. Robert Browning has been instrumental in implementing and growing our robotics program at the hospital. We are proud to celebrate Dr. Browning’s 500th robotic surgery case.”

Dr. Browning shared, “I am proud to be able to provide this cutting-edge technology to patients locally and I appreciate the dedication of the operating room staff and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center to improving surgical care for community.”

Individual results may vary. There are risks associated with any surgical procedure. Talk with your doctor about these risks to find out if robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery are right for you.
