Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Auxiliary Opens 2020 Nursing Scholarship Applications
On January 13, 2020, the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Auxiliary (LWRMCA) opened its 2020 LWRMCA Nursing Scholarship applications. This year, the LWRMCA will award eight scholarships, seven for students who are currently enrolled in a BSN program while completing their clinical affiliation at LWRMC, and an additional scholarship for a nurse who is currently employed at the hospital and enrolled in an MSN program.
Of the seven BSN scholarships, two will be in honor of hospital volunteers as part of their birthday recognition. To kick-off the newly named scholarship program, LWRMCA President, Carole Cowan, has donated $1,000 for The Cowan Family Scholarship. The LWRMCA is excited to offer a total of eight scholarships in 2020, which is three more than 2019.
The deadline for the 2020 LWRMCA Nursing Scholarship is March 10, 2020, and the recipients will be awarded at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, April 10, 2020, at The Grove.
President of the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Auxiliary, Carole Cowan, stated, “The purpose of our fundraising activities is to raise money to support scholarships for students who are enrolled in nursing programs. We recognize that the health careers workforce of the future for our region is dependent on the quality of our graduates in these programs, and we want to support them as they earn their degrees. Our major fundraiser is the Jingle 5K, now in its eighth year.”
